Transferring in pension

If you have built up pension benefits in the past, you may be able to transfer them to your LGPS pension account.

What do I need to do to transfer my benefits?

If you want to transfer benefits into the Surrey Pension Fund you should complete a transfer request form.

We will investigate and provide you with an estimate of what the transfer payment would increase your pension benefits by. You can then decide if you want to go ahead with the transfer.

Transferring your pension is not an easy decision to make. You may wish to get help from a qualified independent financial adviser.

You only have 12 months from joining the fund to transfer a previous pension into the Scheme.

Transferring Pension Credit

You cannot transfer a pension credit into the LGPS.

A pension credit is a share of an ex-spouse's or ex-civil partner's pension that a Court awards you under a Pension Sharing Order following a divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership.

Further information on transferring pension credit can be found on the LGPS member site.
